Nothing Can Separate Us - Romans 8:38-39

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ

Nothing Can Separate Us - Romans 8:38-39

“ For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,  nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

The Relentless  Love of God.

Have you loved someone or been loved for no specific reason? Love is a beautiful thing, but it is also a very peculiar feeling. What motivates the heart to love or accept love. Everyone has a different way they think about love based on what they have read in literature, in movies or seen in their immediate culture. Today people have diluted the root meaning of love, and this article will remind us what true love is. There are two types of 'love": God's love and human love. Man's love is a reciprocating feeling that changes based on different conditions.

On God's love, Corrie Ten Boom wrote, "There is no pit so deep, that God's love is not deeper still." The root word for this love is "agape", the unconditional kind love. It is unrelenting, untiring and it pursues each person as if they were the only person. God doesn't love us because of our behaviour or merit. Even if mountains shake or rivers run dry, nothing can stagger the love that God has for us (Isaiah 54:10). The love of God is not an emotional reaction. It is a decision. God demonstrated his love through Christ's sacrifice for our life, that while we were still sinners unaware of this great gift, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). What manner of affection is this that the Lord has for you and me. His love never changes. He loves us today as He did yesterday and to everlasting. (Jeremiah 31:3).

Who Is Paul Talking To?

The above introduction helps us understand what persuaded Paul of our safety in God's love. Paul's audience then and today are the ones who think that they have lost favour in the eyes of God. It is to the people who think they are too sinful to receive God's grace. It is a message to everyone who believes their sins are red, like scarlet or those who think they are beyond saving. God, through Apostle Paul, is reminding us that God still loves them all the same (Romans 8:29). The confidence expressed by Paul in our text is as rational as it is bold. Paul's writing is a beautiful piece founded on the solid principles of the gospel.

The assurance

"We are being put to death all day, considered as sheep to be slaughtered". These words are literal for many believers every day in some parts of the world. Paul used ten of life's most extreme experiences to demonstrate that we will never be separated from God's love, no matter what happens to us. These extremes include the extremes of existence, the extremes of created beings, the extremes of time, the extremes of enemies, the extremes of space, and everything created (Romans 8:38-39). Understanding this in our own lives will enable us to fulfil God's plan for our lives fearlessly.

Conclusion

This promise of inseparability is God's declaration that He will save His people and nothing can destroy them. You have these promises if you will have Jesus as your Lord and Savior and Treasure.
